Our verdict
If the cost of the job going wrong is small, a well-briefed freelancer is good value. If the AI talks to your customers or touches your money, pay for a fixed-price build from someone who will still be there to maintain it. Whoever you hire, get ownership of the code and accounts in writing.

Is an agency more expensive than a freelancer?
Usually on day one. The fair comparison is total cost: the build, your time managing it, and fixing it when an app or model changes. A fixed price plus an optional maintenance plan makes that cost predictable.
Can I use both?
