Free Claude Code starter pack for Australian small business
A ready-made folder that turns Claude Code into a careful admin assistant for an Australian business: a CLAUDE.md template with your business details and Australian rules, seven commands for everyday admin (replies, quotes, invoice reminders, weekly reports and more) and starter settings that block secrets and deletions. It is free, it downloads straight away, and it comes from On Autopilot, a Melbourne-based AI consultancy that builds on Claude.
What is in the pack
- CLAUDE.md template for an Australian small business: business profile, AUD and GST maths, DD/MM/YYYY, Australian English, and house rules covering the Privacy Act, the Spam Act, the Australian Consumer Law and what goes to your BAS or tax agent.
- Seven slash commands for admin jobs (listed below). Each one saves a draft for you to check; none of them sends anything.
- Starter settings.json with safe permissions: blocks reading .env files, keys and secrets, blocks deleting files and force-pushes, and asks before web access or installs.
- README with setup steps for Windows (PowerShell) and Mac (Terminal), plus drafts, data and reports folders ready to use.

The seven commands

/tidy-spreadsheet | Cleans a CSV export (Australian dates and phone numbers, states, duplicates) into a new file and never touches the original. |
/meeting-notes | Turns rough notes or a transcript into decisions, actions with owners and dates, and open questions. |
/aussie | Rewrites text into plain Australian English: spelling, DD/MM/YYYY dates, no em dashes, no hype. |
How do I set up Claude Code for my small business?
Install Claude Code with one command, unzip the pack, fill in CLAUDE.md, and start Claude Code in that folder. It takes about 15 minutes and needs a paid Claude plan (Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise) or an Anthropic Console account; Claude Pro is US$20 a month as at October 2026. The README in the pack has every step.

Is it safe to use Claude Code with business files?
It can be, with sensible limits. This pack keeps Claude to drafting: nothing is sent, the original exports in the data folder cannot be edited, and the settings block secrets and deletions. Claude Code still asks before it edits a file or runs a command, so read each request. Under the Privacy Act you stay responsible for customer information whichever tool you use. What does Claude Code cost?
Claude Code is included with Claude Pro (US$20 a month), Max (from US$100) and Team seats, or billed per token on an API account. What the pack does not do
- It does not connect to Xero, Shopify or your inbox. Those need connectors and tighter permissions; start read-only.
- It does not send, pay or lodge anything. Every output is a draft.

Is the Claude Code starter pack really free?

Do I need a paid Claude plan to use it?
Yes. Claude Code needs a Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise plan or an Anthropic Console (API) account; the free Claude plan does not include it. As at October 2026, Claude Pro is US$20 a month, roughly A$29 before GST at the Reserve Bank rate. Check current pricing on claude.com/pricing.
Is it safe to let Claude Code loose on my business files?
The pack is set up to be careful: every command writes drafts instead of sending anything, the settings block reading secrets and deleting files, and Claude Code asks before editing files or running commands. Keep sensitive records out of the folder unless a task needs them, and read each permission request before approving it.
Does it work on Windows and Mac?
Yes. The README has step-by-step setup for both: one install command in PowerShell on Windows or Terminal on a Mac, then you open the pack folder and run claude.
