Do I need to be a developer?

No. We've run this day with bookkeepers, salon owners, agency directors, doctors, and content marketers. The CLI is intimidating until it isn't, most clients are issuing useful commands inside the first hour. If you're comfortable in Excel formulas, you can be comfortable in Claude Code.

What if I'm already a developer?

Still useful, different value. For developers, the day is about hooks, settings, MCPs, slash commands, agent shapes, and the patterns we've extracted from running this in production across multiple businesses for a year. You'll pick up workflows you wouldn't find in the docs.

Will this work on Windows?

Yes. Most of our recent setup days have been on Windows 11, that's the Australian SMB default. The Mac path is slightly cleaner but Windows works fine; we've shipped Claude Code on Windows in production for 18 months across our own businesses.

How much will Claude Code cost me to run after we're done?

Depends on what you use it for. Light personal use is $5–20 AUD/month in API. Daily heavy use for a solo operator is $40–80 AUD/month. Per-agent costs depend on the agent, our [nightly inventory agent](/case-studies/nightly-inventory-agent-shopify-skincare/) runs ~$5/month for daily overnight scans. We set up cost alerts during the day so you can't get surprised by a bill.

What if my real-business agent is too complex for one day?

Then on the day we ship the simplest useful version, and we honestly tell you which parts need a follow-up build. We'd rather ship something real than fake-finish something ambitious. About 1 in 5 setup-day builds become a follow-up custom engagement; the other 4 stay as DIY-with-30-day-support.

Can two people from my team do the day together?

Yes, and we encourage it for agencies. Two people learning at once stick better. We cap at 3 attendees per day to keep it focused. For a 4+ person team, scope a custom Workshop day instead (typically $2,500–$3,000 AUD for half-day group + half-day per-person).

Remote default, Zoom + screen-share both ways, plus a shared GitHub repo. Most clients prefer this because they're in their own environment with their real files. In-person available for Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane (price + travel quoted on enquiry).

What does the schedule actually look like?

We split into two 4-hour blocks because nobody can usefully concentrate for 8 hours straight. Morning block: install, configure, CLAUDE.md, MCPs, first commands. Lunch break (you eat, we prep your agent). Afternoon block: build the real agent, ship it, walk through patterns, record the recap video. You finish around 5pm.

Why one day works

Most people who try Claude Code stall in the same place: they install it, they get the cursor blinking, they don’t know what to type next. The official docs are good but assume a developer’s mental model. The YouTube tutorials drift into someone else’s setup that doesn’t match yours.

The fastest way past that is to spend a day with someone who’s already running it in production for multiple businesses. Not a course. Not a webinar. Not “learn at your own pace”. A real day, on your real machine, ending with a real agent doing real work.

We’ve productised this because the structure is the same every time: install + configure + CLAUDE.md + MCPs + build-one-real-thing. The content varies wildly, your real-thing is different from the next client’s real-thing, but the scaffolding is fixed. Hence $1,500 fixed price.

Setup days are the cleanest scope we offer. We know what we’re doing. We’ve done this for ~30 people now. The structure doesn’t change much; what we build inside it does. We’d rather give you a confident fixed price than vague hourly billing.

If your real-agent goal is bigger than fits in a day (more than ~2 hours of build complexity), we’ll honestly tell you mid-morning and you can decide: ship the simplest useful version today and add a follow-up custom build later, or refund the day and instead start with a Quick Start at $497 plus a custom build quote. We’ve only had to do the latter twice.

What this is not
